The Laowa 24mm T14 2x Macro PeriProbe is one of the most singular, creative, and technically fascinating lenses in today’s cinema market: a probe lens — tubular, long, and with a very small front diameter — that allows the lens to be inserted into spaces inaccessible to any other optic and capture radically unique bug-eye perspectives, combining an 85° angle of view with 2x macro magnification and a minimum working distance of just 2 cm. The PeriProbe incorporates the fundamental upgrade over the original Probe version: an interchangeable 90° periscope tip module with free 360° rotation — allowing the image to be reframed by rotating the barrel without moving the camera — and a ring of integrated LEDs next to the front element to illuminate the subject directly from the lens itself.
With a tubular barrel of just 29mm front diameter and 408mm in length, the PeriProbe can be inserted into gaps, through foliage, inside scale models, underwater, or at ground level with absolute freedom. The front barrel is waterproof — suitable for liquid-to-air transition shots —, and the tip includes a 1/4-20 thread for attaching additional lights or mounts. Two interchangeable tubes included: 0° (straight) and 90° (periscope). Aperture T14–T40. Full Frame coverage. PL mount. 7-blade iris. Focus gears with 0.8 MOD pitch. Optical structure of 28 elements in 19 groups.
Perfect for: cinematographers, camera operators, and filmmakers who need absolutely unique perspectives impossible to achieve with any other lens — wildlife and nature in tight spaces, product and tabletop advertising, practical special effects, scale models and miniatures, underwater transition shots, ground-level angles, or any project where extreme visual creativity and bug-eye perspectives are the goal.
