Designed as the natural companion to the Alura 45-250mm — with which it shares construction, ergonomics, colour, and optical character —, the 18-80mm covers the most commonly used focal range in professional productions with a constant aperture of T2.6 throughout its entire zoom range, with absolutely no exposure ramping. Colour-matched and optically consistent with ARRI’s wide selection of existing prime lenses for seamless integration on any set.
Its optical performance is outstanding for its class: high resolution and contrast, even field illumination across the full focal and focus range, reduced chromatic aberration through the use of extraordinary dispersion glass, minimised focus breathing — especially at the wide end where it matters most —, and Fujinon’s EBC multi-layer coating for a dramatic reduction of flares, ghosts, and veiling glare.
